Internal Quality Assessment Cell (IQAC)
In order to achieve NAAC’s Action Plan for performance of evaluation, assessment and accreditation as well as quality up gradation of institution, the Captain Williamson Memorial Government College has constituted Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) with Dr. Donberd Sangma, Lecturer, Department of History, CWMGC as Co-ordinator and along with other members from among the Academic and Senior Administrative Staff, and Local Society, some members from Student Body and Alumni as per the guidelines of the NAAC. The primary area to be focused is the enhancement of quality in all aspects of the academic affairs of the institution. The IQAC will play an integral part of the institutional system and work towards realization of the goals of quality enhancement and sustenance. Its aim is to develop a system for conscious, catalytic (consistent involving) in the overall performance of the institution. It will focus to channelize all efforts and measures of the institution to promote its holistic academic excellence.
It is hope that the ongoing guideline provided in the following pages will guide and facilities the institution in the (creation and practical) operational of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The work of the IQAC will be the first step towards internationalization and institutionalization of quality enhancement initiative. Its success depends upon the sense of belongingness and participation of all the stakeholders.
Objective of forming the IQAC is to strengthening the environment of quality assurance education and other inclusive development of academic activities. It will act as a nodal agency of the institution to coordinate with different departments and agencies to explore means to develop the institution as well as other curriculum of academic activities. IQAC suggests institution For maintenance of an archive or institutional database to enhance quality of information transparency.
Vision and Mission:
Captain Williamson Memorial Government College aim at achieving excellence in all aspects of higher education while aspiring to become a premier institution in the State by creating healthy and peaceful academic environment. It also desires to promote innovative and experiment quest for knowledge, freedom of expression and respect for culture is the hallmark of the college.
The College believes in the attainment of excellence and lays emphasis on all- round integrated development of students. The mission of the college is to provide opportunities to excel in fields of different streams and humanities. It encourages competitiveness and yearning for perfection among all members of the institution and nurtures diverse talent among the students through various curricular and co-curricular activities. Captain Williamson Memorial Government college promotes equality of education irrespective of social class, gender, religion and caste. The college organizes various activities to sensitize the students towards social issues, gender bias, nature and environment. At the same time the college carries out extracurricular activities by organizing seminars, conferences, symposia and other events in order to facilitates interaction between students and people of from all walks of life. It grooms the students so that they become key role player in building a culturally sensitive and knowledge-based society.
The college has taken up the mission of making the stakeholders aware of their rights, duties and responsibilities by aligning with national and state programme like Swachch Bharat Abhiyan, RUSA with the sole objective to work towards a holistic growth of the students and contributes their role in a balanced social and
Objective:
IQAC is a Unit of the institution which will act as a facilitative and participative organ. It will not work as hierarchical structure of a record-keeping exercise in the institution but it will help the institution in quality enhancement by working out planned strategies to enhance quality and to remove deficiencies.
Strategies:
In line with strategies given in the IQAC guidelines, members are committed to the mechanisms and procedures:
- To ensure appropriate, efficient and progressive performance of academic and administrative tasks
- Equitable access and affordability of academic programmes for various sections of society.
- Optimization and incorporation of modern methods of teaching and learning.
- The reliability of assessment and evaluation process.
- Ensuring maintenance and proper allocation of support structure and quality service for the institution.

- Ensure brightened level of clarity and focus in institutional functioning towards quality enhancement;
- Ensure internationalization of the quality culture;
- Ensure enhancement and coordination among various activities of the institution and institutionalize all good practices;

- Act as a dynamic system for quality changes in HEIs;

The IQAC will garner helps to college in planning and monitoring. It will also seek support of stakeholders or beneficiaries from the cross-sectional participation in the quality enhancement and sustenance activities of the institution. The members are committed to bear responsibilities shoulder to shoulders for promoting awareness of quality education in the college and working out the procedural details

The Role of the IQAC Coordinator:
The role of the coordinator of the IQAC in the college is crucial. It has to be ensured in the effective functioning of all the members of the faculty. The coordinator of the IQAC may be a senior person with expertise in quality aspects. He/she may be a full-time functionary or a senior academic/administrator entrusted additional responsibility of the institution. It is preferable that the coordinator may have a sound knowledge about computer, its various functions and usage for effective communication.
